I can definitely understand her fear of possibly being exposed to STDs (as anyone who's in a supposedly monogamous relationship who finds out that their partner is cheating, heterosexually or not) and the shame/inadequacy she may feel, but going to the police? She should've gone for a sizeable payoff and leave her husband. Her reporting it is very spiteful and doghearted.
