It’s the grey shades that define us, not the extremes. For the ending, I have to thank my faithful editor who is one of the facilitators of this site, who will allow to bask in anonymity. Unless of course, she wants to come forth and claim credit where it is due
Are we all cynics in love? I take my hat off to Sartre as well: the ending is a moment inspired by pure existentialism.
That, or just plain lived experience.
I will let the readers decide. You make writing these stories all worthwhile and I enjoy reading your comments every week. Don’t stop writing in. It feeds my engine and fuels my creative juices

Nice mix of flash backs with the present. And a just perfect ending. I was little surprised by it, and couldn’t help but wonder if it is actually inspired from real experience. And here was ur response to Fan’s question.
Whosoever is the inspiration, it reflects the grey shades of love and lust. Hats off..!!

To answer the Fan’s question, I had initially had an ending with a “Yes baby, I do”, but the fact is that things don’t work out between Zarina and Mallika because of complications between them in the past and Mallika’s indiscretions. There are dynamics that play out between lovers and even ego emerges which it does for Zarina here. She’s still hurt by what Mallika did, so one love-making session doesn’t mask the grievances Zarina feels. So she gives a bittersweet response instead to Mallika’s question. I know some readers will be perplexed by this, but these stories are also real stories, not pure fantasies, and to build depth and complexity of characters, sometimes the happy ending isn’t always the most desirable outcome for the writer – that would be me
Phew! That’s a long answer to a short question!
However the love and passion is palpable in their love-making session. Actions speak louder than words sometimes (well, most of the time!).
