Gay prince of Rajpipla Manavendra Singh Gohil will soon publish and edit India’s first magazine for gays called Fun’, which will highlight gay lifestyle. The magazine will talk about everything from gay fashion, to gadgets and gizmo that gays like, to health and sexuality and other issues relating to men who like men.
The magazine will be launched on July 26 at Goa with actress Celina Jaitley. The cover will have a shirtless photograph of upcoming model Rehan Khan. [Link]
Brilliant move, no doubt. Manavendra Singh is one helluva great dude. Old age home for Queer folks, a resting place for AIDS patients, running NGOs, creating awareness via public and press meets, and the list of his self-less dedication goes on and on.
Though I have to admit, the idea of launching it with Ms. Jaitley and the shirtless model for a cover page doesn’t appeal to me much. Banking on Bollywood celebrities has become modus operandi of some sort in grabbing media eye-balls almost for everything nowadays.
Agreed, one cannot deny Celina Jaitley’s dedicated support for the Queer cause but can’t we share the same space with those who have made a difference in actuality, in numbers, on field. I am talking about the likes of Ashok Row Kavi, Gautam Bham, Ruth Vanita, Rohit Bal, Sunil Menon…aren’t these guys celebrities, and don’t they represent gay lifestyle?
And what’s this fixation with shirtless beefy models for a cover page? Like seriously!
