Earlier this week on February 13th, a bill to legal same sex marriage passed the Legislature and was signed by Governor Christine Gregoire. “It’s a day that historians will mark as a milestone for equal rights — when we did what was right, just and fair and did it together, Republicans and Democrats, gay and straight, young and old.”
The law will go into effect on June 7th after the mandatory waiting period. Unless of course the opponents of same sex marriage manage to acquire the 120,577 votes required to push the decision on same sex marriage to the November elections, leaving it in the hands of the voters.
