This year at the Indian Film Fest of LA are some wonderful LGBT selections, including a short that looks at Bolly heroines through a queer lens, and a gripping doc about a transgender orthodox Muslim who embarks on a journey to Thailand for a reassignment surgery to become the woman she was meant to be.

QUEEN OF MY DREAMS  Plays in Shorts Progam #1, (of which there are two screening days)- it addresses the idea of the traditional Bollywood heroine through a queer lens. Screening Dates: 4/10 + 4/12

MOHAMMED TO MAYA– A Muslim transgender embarks on a journey to Thailand for a reassignment surgery to become the woman she was meant to be. http://indianfilmfestival.org/blog/mo2maya Screening Date: 4/10

Non-Queer films recommendations :

Family Day, featuring Disney’s ARJUN: THE WARRIOR PRINCE– 4/13, 12 PM. Our Family Day is back, and we think it might be of interest to hip young parents. Centered around a FREE screening of a new Disney project, we’ll have a fight choreographer on hand to teach children how to mimic moves from the film, art projects, and more.

BEYOND ALL BOUNDARIES– The beloved sport of cricket and its fans, as narrated by BIG BANG THEORY’S Kunal Nayyer.
