We have an exciting event on the radar this upcoming weekend and the organizers have shared the brilliant deets with us right here for you : Its the Reel Desires Chennai International Queer Festival to be held at the Goethe Institut, Chennai from July 11-13, 2013.

Reel Desires: Chennai International Queer Film Festival 2013 will showcase sexuality and gender diversity in a three-day series of feature films, shorts and documentaries held from July 11 to 13, 2013. The series will be held at Goethe-Institut, Nungambakkam, in association with local LGBT, human rights, health and media groups including Orinam, SAATHII, Nirangal, RIOV, Oye!Chennai, Shakti Resource Center and the East-West Center for Counselling,
The film festival is open to all members of the public and will emphasize our common humanity that transcends boundaries of sexuality, gender identity and culture.
It is being organized in conjunction with the fifth annual Chennai Rainbow Pride, a series of LGBT events held around the city this June and July. Over 35 films will be screened, including shorts, documentaries and feature films from 12 countries, including India. A highlight of the film festival will be 12 films from Latin America, a special feature brought to Chennai in collaboration with LiberCine, the Argentina International Film Festival on Sexual and Gender Diversity.
On Friday, July 12, film and theatre directors from Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai and Chennai will participate in a panel discussion on the use of film and theatre for promoting LGBT rights and engendering social change.
On Saturday, July 13, representatives of businesses and non-profits will discuss strategies for ensuring LGBT inclusion in the workplace. Human Resource departments and professionals concerned with diversity and inclusion are especially invited to attend.
