Meet The CookBoy

I live with my husband J. Well, civil partner. Whatever... it depends on how politically correct you want to be about it. But either way its all legal!

Fundamentalists

The man says to me “You know, I have been watching you for some time now. I have been observing you. And you see, god talks to me, he sends me messages".

Dharun Ravi : Punished for Being An Immigrant

Congratulations gay people. We’ve arrived. If someone bullies or intimidates us and we take our lives as a result of their douche-bagery, we can rest assured that they will be convicted of bias-intimdiation and possibly, sentenced harshly. And in the case of Dharun Ravi, also face deportation to a country that he probably does not remember. I hope everyone is happy that justice has been served.

I Never Asked To Be Born This Way.

In the past 4 months, I’ve been to three weddings. Each one of them unfailingly sent me spiralling into a personal crisis of sorts and left me on the verge of completely breaking down. In spite of being amongst hundreds of people, I’ve never felt this left out and so very alone. And each time, I was filled with this sadness and utter dejection because the potential of being rejected by everyone close to me became very real very quickly.

Bullying Within the Queer Community

As a society, we’re more focused than ever on making sure that bullying on the basis of gender or sexual orientation isn’t harming queer kids the way it has in the past. Lots of anti-bullying campaigns focus on the fact that once a kid is out of high school, they get to be a lot more selective in the people they hang out with, and as a result, they escape from a lot of the bullying. But is high school really where that level of bullying ends?

Fisking Firdaus

In a “wildly” convoluted essay, Firdous contends that maybe allowing homosexuals their rights will lead to the destruction of the world as we know it. Never being the one for open letters, I’ll just use this as feedstock for sarcasm.

Think For Yourself. Or Please Shut The Fuck Up.

It’s simple, really. The world wasn’t created for the benefit of just one person. We co-exist. Just as you won’t find two tigers with matching stripes, you won’t find two people with the same preferences. You’d think after so many years of existence, people would’ve learnt to tolerate each other’s differences. But looks like that’s too much to expect from a species that considers itself the most intelligent of all.

What Happens To Gay Relationships & Affairs

The first draft of this rant was interrupted too. Thanks to 'his' plans to go out for a movie, a quick dinner and maybe a nap? But sorry, the movie didn't happen since he only has one bicycle, and I have none. And we're too late to use public transport to get to a place 2 kilometers away. Damn!

The Valentine’s Day Bail Out

For those of you who were too busy star gazing or cow herding and forgot that it is Valentine’s Day, worry not! I am here to present you with some fantastic last minute gift ideas, date scenarios and relationship advice.

Agneepath : A Rebuttal

Why is it okay to show Hijra as scheming but not violent? Firstly, the movie did not spend enough time on the character development of the Hijras. As I saw it, they were shown as supportive of Vijay and loyal and fierce. They rise up in arms against a mob of cruel men that have thronged to witness and participate in the auction of a girl. What's wrong with that?

How To Spot a Homophobe This Pride?

Just like regular decent people, homophobes come in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes they're hard to spot, because they're masquerading as tolerant. But fear not, dear readers...because my homophobe-spotter is just as sharp as my 'gaydar'. You will soon be able to spot these types from a mile away and avoid the frustration of enduring an ignorant conversation.
