KJo : Too Late To Come Out?

As a Gaysi, I know I struggle to find popular Gaysi celebrities or idols to look up to. It would be great to know that in our intricate world of tradition, culture, and strict values, someone dared to stand up for themselves and come out. It would be liberating to look up to someone and say to ourselves that if they could do it, if they could risk what they have to be true to themselves, anyone could.

Bollywood Hunks : When they were & When they were not

Unlike straight Desi men, Gaysi men are very picky! It is not easy for our Bollywood hunks to entice Gaysi men. And when they do, it is twice as hard to remain as the object of their attraction forever. Gaysi men save their loyalty for the divas (Rekha, Madhuri, Kajol and many others), not for the hunks. Hunks are disposable! One wrong move and they are out.

Ruined By Kuch Kuch Hota Hai!

I recently read that in yet another act of self-referencing, Break ke Baad refers to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (KKHH) as a movie that played an important role in the romance of the lead characters. Incidentally, that same day, KKHH was playing on one of the Hindi movie channels. I happened to catch the first one hour of the movie and was incredibly depressed by it.

While you lot are still singing the dying whispers of Auld Lang Syne [ Yes, that IS the 1788 Scottish song that plays in Sex and The City – The Movie. Yes, it even has a Gay Kiss ] So much has been happening in the world! So much! Time to play catch up…and that’s what we are here for – To nurse your hangover with Queer cheer.

Shahrukh, Ranbir in Brokeback Mountain Remake ?

Latest Bollywood buzz is that rising superstar, Ranbir Kapoor refused to work with Shahrukh khan, again! Kapoor kid says he is not desperate and is waiting for the "perfect script" to share screen space with King Khan. At Gaysi, we thought we would make an irresistible offer to the duo and while we are at it, also suggest some perfect remakes for our other Bollywood hunks.

Dunno Y Bollywood Is Not O.K with Gays [Our World This Week]

Close on this article's heels comes news that the release of Dunno Y.... has been delayed because the charming chaps of the Bhartiya Yuva Morcha protested ( Are these guys new ? never heard of them ? must be an offshoot of an offshoot of an offshoot of the SS. wow.) Apparently, Homosexuality is against Indian culture. Ok folks! After Halloween - we all go back to being straight o.k ? Party time over. I kid - but you get the drift - There are people in this world who dare define Indian culture.

Interview: Artist, Mallika Sarabhai

I have personally done everything considered black spots in our society. Live in relationships, pre-marital sex, being separated when pregnant, living alone, single mother, relationships and live ins after separation, being in a relationship with a younger man. I have no peers that I consider worthy of listening to. And I don't respect this fraud and conniving thing we call samaj. Luckily, thankfully, my family has always trusted that I would do the right thing and have always been there when I get my nose bloodied. I try and do the same for the children.

Discussion On Indian Mythology

Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik is an expert on mythology and, in particular, this aspect of it - understanding what myths say and how they are relevant to our lives and how we can use them to make real change. He'll be talking about this in general and the specific context of the issues that people who come to Gay Bombay face.

Interview : Transgender Activist, Kalki

A contemporary activist and reformer, or more accurately a social educationist as I perceive, is Kalki. A transperson herself, she understands the emotional turmoil we individuals go through and is dedicated to eradicate the social inequities in the society. She is pushing for reforms, working with other activists in counseling and helping Transfolks earn education, get vocationally trained and hence providing a path for many who have been shunned by society a leg to stand on.

Stephanie Rice Pays A Hefty Price

Have you heard of Australian swimmer Stephanie Rice? I hadn't till a few days ago. Apparently she was watching a rugby match between Australia & South Africa and after the Australian team beat the South African team, she tweeted, "Suck on that, f@gg*ts!" Because, you know, the South African team is clearly gay if they couldn't beat the Australian team, because gays are such losers and not men enough.

Of A Dandy And A Drag Queen

Harish Kumar on India’s Got Talent is a cross-dressing dancer from Jaisalmer, who is now one of the few remaining on the show. Queen Harish, as the performer is known, dresses in drag, slaps on makeup, wears Salvatore Ferragamo pumps and is a more graceful dancer than most women I have seen.

Code 3

The Technical Advisory Committee constituted by Registrar General has recommended inclusion of transgender community in the census as a separate gender and not as males as is the present practice. In an RTI reply to Dr SE Huda of Bareilly based-NGO SSFA-ESFI, the Registrar General has said that the that the TAC has recommended a separate category for the transgender community of the country.

Gay Bollywood Dream Sequence

Like many folks in and out of India, I grew up watching Indian cinema both of the regional and Bollywood variety. And whenever a choreographed dance/dream sequence burst out on screen – Oh yeah! My imagination ran wild! My Queer identity without any rules or societal structures to mimic - mapped itself gloriously onto the coy yet vibrant romance that played itself out in booty busting technicolor.
