Gossip’s Fundraising Party for Mumbai Pride

This time we party for a cause, to raise funds for Mumbai Pride 2012. Mother of all queer events is back, bigger and better than ever, Queer Azaadi Mumbai’s Pride walk on 28th January 2012. This year promises to have almost of a dozen pre-pride events to be held all over the city during the pride week (21st-28th January 2012). And in order to help realize all these events, Gossip is holding a fundraiser!

In the year of the Olympics, QAM brings you our lil queer version of the Games, right here to Mumbai! Our little twist, is more about having fun, letting our hair down and proving our athletic prowess! (kidding about the last part).

So how was the last year, peeps? Here at Gaysi we've had a super busy one. We had our usual posts about Events, Opinions, Fiction and of course... cue scary music (or drum rolls, as you please)... PODCASTS! As usual, we were not free of controversy. But we live, we learn and hopefully, we have fun along the ride.

Bangalore Pride Week 2011

The Bangalore Pride week was kickstarted on the 19th of November with a Cricket match at Hombegowda Grounds. It wasn’t advertised as much as the other events, hence the turn out wasn’t great. One of the organizers got on the mic and announced "We are gays, lesbians, hijras, kothis, transgenders... we are having a friendly cricket match today as part of pride, will you celebrate with us and play our game?” A bunch of guys who were hanging around on the grounds stayed to play.

2nd Flashpoint Human Rights Film Festival

This year the festival will screen 18 films that take a critical and empathetic look at several human rights issues – from religious fundamentalism, communal violence, political authoritarianism, war crimes, homophobia, surrogacy, migrant rehabilitation, women empowerment, corruption and poverty.
