I feel like everyday the book surprises me. Last year it was nominated for a Lambda Literary Award and was picked up by several post-secondary institutions as a text book. Consequently, the first run sold out in just a little over a year and I am currently getting ready for the release of the second edition which features a new story and illustration.
A few weeks ago, while The Girl was away on yet another business trip, I was watching some mindless TV & I suddenly felt myself get really sad. It was a weird feeling, because I wasn't really sad & it felt like I was watching my mind being taken over (fans of Harry Potter might say there were Dementors in the room) by some unstoppable force.
Just like regular decent people, homophobes come in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes they're hard to spot, because they're masquerading as tolerant. But fear not, dear readers...because my homophobe-spotter is just as sharp as my 'gaydar'. You will soon be able to spot these types from a mile away and avoid the frustration of enduring an ignorant conversation.
This is the sequel to our never-before-seen production that gives deep insight into the workings of a lesbian mind. Read part 1 here for context.
As we walked towards the exit we had the venue staff telling us that we could not leave since there were police outside. A guy wearing a pony tail, beard, kohl eyed and wearing a vest was standing there instructing the police to go and check on the party. His name is Haji Ahmed Sahab Bawa (HASB) claiming to be a member of the NCP. He also was showing videos that he had clicked inside the party.
Haji Ahmed Sahab Bawa, a Muslim rightwinger, screamed and name called 270 guests and cops watched meekly, until we decided enough is enough, people mustered courage and took the fight to the police station...and after 2 hours of 50 odd people standing outside the station, we were told there was nothing wrong with party, all the permissions were in place and it was wrong that the party was stopped.
Recently, we were contacted by someone from a Men's Magazine that shall not be named but I can tell you that their name begins with an 'F', ends with an 'M' and has a middle initial of 'H'. We were asked if Gaysi would be willing to answer a 'witty questionnaire on lesbian sex'. Witty? Warning bells! But you know how we have a penchany for attracting these sorts.
Come on my queer,
Get in gear.
Gay prides just a month away,
Through the streets we want to play.
There’s no such thing as a free lunch,
Doesn’t mean you need to get your panties in a bunch.
Dhanush couldn't forgive himself for the destruction he had brought up on Sruthi. What if I hadn't talked to her on the flight that day? What if I hadn't given her my email address? The guilt was a constant companion and it consumed him.
Former Rutgers University student Dharun Ravi rejected a plea bargain in court on Dec. 8 in an invasion of privacy case that was sparked by the suicide of his roommate, Tyler Clementi. If proven guilty Ravi now faces jail time and deportation to India.
Somebody asked me today, what is love to me? I think every ones definition of love is different; love is what you believe it is. To me it is accepting the pain that it will bring along. I fear it. And right now I am using this space as an outlet because I have decided that I will conquer it soon.
Is a petite-fair skinned person any more of a woman than a larger-dark skinned person? Is the tall-lanky-size zero woman any more real than a short-plus sized woman? Is a married-mom any more real than a career-focused-single woman? If that is the case, then why should a self-identifying not-assigned-woman-at-birth woman be any less of a woman than a woman who was assigned so at birth and raised as a woman?
Forget willing your property to a long-time partner, the law doesn’t recognise her; Don’t dance too hard in a gay party, you could be booked for indecent behaviour; Facing domestic …
"Metrosexual? That sounds Gay!" Saif Ali Khan is uncomfortable being called Metrosexual, and Preity Zinta had to assure him Meterosexual is NOT Gay. Uhff! What a relief!
Scott Kugle’s Homosexuality in Islam, is a must read for Queer people of all faiths (not just Muslims) and also for feminists, atheists and other minorities that challenge patriarchy.
It was after her fifteenth birthday that she realised there was something a little different about her. All her friends seemed to have changed – they dressed better, seemed more …
The best kind of books are the ones that make you want to write. The Reward by R.Singh does just that.
It starts off interestingly as the writer uses rich imagery to paint vivid pictures of his childhood. The writing here creates such strong impressions, that I shared his nostalgia, when he recollects his childhood memories towards the end of his life. It momentarily made me pine for some of my own childhood... a phase of my life that I like to think about, very little.
