Broom lived an ordinary, boring, unhappy and married life till she met the woman that she fell madly in love with at the age of twenty eight. Since then, life has been anything but ordinary! Accepting her sexuality was the hardest thing she’s done and this site was born out of a desire to help other women find a support system that she had a hard time finding when she needed it. Broom is now out to almost everyone that matters – except including her parents. She dreams of the day when she won’t have to protect her identity on this blog or anywhere else.
Envee maybe married. Maybe gay. Maybe bisexual. Everything about her life is mildly confusing, even especially to herself. She’s well read. Which makes things worse. Because every one of her convictions is constantly challenged.
Moreover, Envee falls in love constantly. Also falls out just as promptly. Loves dogs and cats. And women. Also loves random strangers mailing in. Used to not like babies, and now is constantly charmed by them. Her uterus has a mind of its own.
Twenty something, 100% shudh desi lesbian. Likes living large, and on the edge. Dislikes stagnation, fence sitting and hypocrites. Lives in a bubble of joy, with occasional lapses into drama queendom. Currently nursing a massive crush on actress Chitrangada Singh (kind of eerie, her resemblance to the late Smita Patil, don’t you think?). Aspires to build a fully functional support system for the Gaysi community in India. And most importantly, top the ‘Hottest eligible desi-lezzie’ list one bright sunny day.
Ideasmith is a moniker for Ramya Pandyan, an ex-business analyst on sabbatical and an aspiring novelist. Also a compulsive writer as you can see at www.theideasmithy.com and www.thexxfactor.net.
Her one real belief is freedom. Freedom of expression, freedom of movement, freedom to choose, freedom to be who you are. As a woman, she finds herself often having to struggle for what she believes is a basic right. Her attitude to homosexuality stems from here. She doesn’t claim to understand it, being a straight-out straight woman herself.
She wonders what makes us really different and comes to the conclusion that it’s the same thing that distinguishes one human being from another – black hair or blonde, blue eyes or brown, tall or short, vivacious or quiet, energetic or placid, gay or straight? Your pick, come as you are.
Sasha Bings
Sasha Bings was born in England in 1980, but her family returned to India when she was 16. She escaped two years later to study psychology and creative writing in the United States, coming back to Bombay as a fully-fledged lesbian in her mid-twenties. Like most of us, she has a day job, but writes short stories on her blackberry when she’s stuck in traffic, or late at night before she falls asleep. She used to meditate, but she found writing stories to be much more cathartic. Sasha blesses all her ex-loves for teaching her that life goes on. These stories are dedicated to them. She lives with her two cats, Minks and Kinks, and parrot, Sing-Song.

Welcome to Gaysi. A space where the Desi-Gay community comes together and shares personal stories, their triumphs and failures, their struggles and their dreams, their hopes and despair. And in doing so, gives other gaysis a sliver of hope too.
