Indian High Court to Decide on Same-Sex Marriage

For the first time in India, a court of law will decide whether a same-sex union is valid under the Hindu Marriage Act of 1955.

Beena and Savita the Haryanvi couple famously known as the Married Indian Lebsians, or as our Chicklet called, the “Laila – Manju” of India, sought protection from law enforcement, as they were facing threats from their families. In a significant development, the Haryana high court will now decide if their marriage is valid under the Hindu marriage act of 1995.
