“Ka Bodyscapes (2016) – a new feature film written and directed by Jayan Cherian, set in Kerala, India. Misogyny and homophobia have touched new heights in this ageing, middle-class dominated society where growing Hindu right-wing mobilization and predatory economic growth now erode both civil liberties and labor rights. In this bleak socialscape, three young people, Haris, a free-spirited gay painter; Vishnu, a rural kabaddi player and Haris’ object of desire; and their friend Sia, an activist who refuses to conform to dominant norms of femininity, struggle to find space and happiness. The film explores their quest for freedom and rebellion.”
The preview is organized in association with Pedestrian Pictures Kerala, at Crown Theatre Calicut and scheduled for 3rd April 2016, 9AM. All cinephiles/human right/art enthusiasts and LGBTQ folk are cordially invited to attend the screening and the discussion with the director, Jayan Cherian, after the film screening.
