Pride Festivities Continue [Our World This Week]

While the FIFA World Cup and the Pride festivity continues around the world , we have a few stories that we think are headline worthy.

There has been a sudden spurt in “coming out” stories by celebs, and this is something we do not find so often. [Link] Kudos to both these women for speaking their minds out. Watch Vanessa’s “coming out” video [Link].

The closing argument for the California Prop 8 court battle ended last week. [Link].What piqued my curiosity the most was the statement around the “Purpose of Marriage”. According to the  Gay marriage banning bigots,

[Conservative Charles Cooper led the defense, arguing that it is reasonable to fear that allowing same-sex marriage would undermine heterosexual marriage and self-evident that the purpose of marriage was procreating and raising children.]

This is just bullshit. I refuse to accept that the “institution” promoted by the Church for centuries is so weak and fragile to be threatened by 2 people who love each other. What is more infuriating, is the callousness of these morons who do not give a damn about the companionship between 2 people in a relationship but rather using “marriage” as a tool for procreation.  This is just purely despicable. So do these guys say that 2 heterosexual people can get married as long as they make babies without actually loving each other? Which brings us to another important point, “raising children”. How the heck will 2 parents raise children if they are just getting married without any love?  The funny part is, [Link] study shows that Children of Lesbian parents have more social skills than heterosexual parents. BUWAHAHAHA! So let’s analyse, what might make Gay parents better? For one, they are non-judgemental; They are accepting; They are loving and care for their kid, because they know their kids might be at the end of a stick at some point in their lives because of them. They know there will be some jerk who might give them a hard time. So they teach them courage and they teach them honesty – in a sense “to be true to themselves before anything else” and to be accepting of people. Oh! That’s how you raise them, huh?

Adios! Until the next time around I am off to celebrate my prideness this weekend in my town.
