No Going Back on rights fought for and won,
No Going Back on our freedom of expression!
The purpose of our rhyme is just to tell you this –
A chance to Read Out Loud is one you shouldn’t miss.
So writers, fighters, queers, come and bring some more
To speak to old friends and listen to voices not heard before.
Speak of books burnt, movies banned, voices hushed,
Of a draconian 377 allowed to stay, a million hopes crushed.
No control here nor censure, no silences enforced,
Read for 5 whole minutes, creativity’s endorsed.
So let’s step out of our troubles or comforts on this day
And shake the apathetic state with all we have to say.

Hey folks, that’s right, it’s time for yet another Read Out Loud!!! So close to the fifth anniversary of 2 July 2009, it only made sense for us to theme the event around our struggles to have Sec. 377 repealed and our call for ‘No Going Back!’ last year, after the SC overruled the Delhi High Court’s landmark judgement. So let’s gather and celebrate our journeys through our own words or those of others, with some light banter and snacking to help us fuel up and fight on in creative ways. . . to remind ourselves never to compromise on our freedoms, and those of others. Here’s to seeing and hearing lots of you there!
