FATS TheArts Is Looking For LGBTQ Actors!

*Editor’s Note – All information is given by them below. If interested please email Faezeh Jalali : fatsthearts[at]gmail[dot]com*

FATS TheArts (earlier FAT Productions) started 6 years ago producing school annual days. Our first show, produced by Weirdass Repetory, ‘All in the Timing’ written by David Ives, opened at the NCPA centre stage festival in 2012, and was a great success. We collaborated with Jhoom on ‘Re-Lay’ (2013) and with Tram Theatre for ‘Objects in the Mirror are Closer than they Appear’ (2014). FATS TheArts experiments with form and content, continuously searching for new and different ways of performance, and trying to bring text alive through physicality.

The META award winning play ‘07/07/07’ was created under FATS TheArts Collaborative in 2015.

Shikhandi Synopsis:

Shikhandi was meant to be born male to avenge her past life as Amba. But the bigger karmic game unfolds when she is reborn female, raised male, has a sex change on her wedding night (when she runs away to in the forest – thanks to a Yaksha), and finally fulfils her destiny- to be the cause of Bhishma’s death.

A comic, tongue-in-cheek,  re-telling of the story of Shikhandi (from the Mahabharata), mixing the traditional with the contemporary;  the grandeur of  Indian story-telling and contemporary English verse- questioning gender, sexuality, maleness, femaleness and everything in-between.
