Dear Mama Monster,
I wish you the happiest birthday ever. Maybe next year I will wish you an ever-happier birthday!!
There might be a lot of people in this world who hate your guts. And personally, I cannot wait for the day when Fred Phelps decides to picket one of your shows… I’d love to see how you disregard his ignorant ass.
There are so many people in this world who believe in Queer rights; gays, lesbians, transsexuals, bisexuals, straights, whatever. I believe I stand up for Queer rights too. But the difference between you and me, Mama Monster, is that I have half a foot in the closet. But you have decided to be so vocal about your support that you make it seem like the conservatives are redefining what a closet is. It is 2012; you have given every little homo the strength to be themselves, to learn who they are, to accept who they are, to love who they are, and most importantly, let them new closet breakers know that there is a world out there who will love and support them.
As a celebrity, it takes a lot of guts to publicize the fact that you support the LGBTQ community. However, you decided you didn’t want to support them, you wanted to be a part of them. Supporting the LGBTQ community can cost some their career, but you didn’t give a flying fuck about that. You stood your ground and fought your battle. For that I commend you.
Mama Monster, I love you. It is public figures and warriors such as you who give the rest of us inspiration to fight the Queer battle on whatever level we do. We may start small, but one day we aspire to be as confident and outspoken as you.
May your year be filled with lots of gays, lots of rainbow, lots of love, and most importantly, lots of baby monsters.
Monstering out,
Your loyal Baby Monster.
