So, I grew up in the 90’s. And while I appreciated the whole euro pop (I’m a Barbie girl/other pop songs little girls went crazy about) there was one band, or lets say one particular front woman that I absolutely loved.

Gwen Stefani from the band, No Doubt. Ska punk, baby! Catchy music, great bass lines and good energy.

Here’s a little bit of background on Gwen:

The band started playing in Stefani’s parent’s garage and was initially Gwen’s brother, Eric Stefani’s band. Eric played the keys, while Gwen’s would sing backing vocals.

A year later, Tony Kanal, joins the band as a bassist. Gwen and Tony dated for 7 years. Tony breaks up with Gwen. Gwen starts writing song after song owing to heartbreak, and of course, her immense talent.

Then things for real personal …

I fall in love with Gwen.
I think I really fell for her (literally fell) when she started jumping on stage and doing push ups for no apparent reason. Her energy as a front woman of a band, was amazing. It still is. Her being super good looking was just an added bonus.

On a serious note, her ability to take her heartbreak and turn it into lyrics was very becoming to me. We all could connect to her songs. Especially the huge hit single from their album, Tragic Kingdom : Don’t Speak. We all know it. It was awesome.

So were her arms and the push ups on stage.

So good. I adored her.

The band took sometime to go their own way in 2004. All of them went solo in their own respective careers, until 2012, when they came out with their come back album : Push and Shove.

In this time frame, Gwen had babies, came out with two hit solo albums, namely, L.A.M.B. (2004) and Sweet Escape (2006) and also has her own clothing line.

I, meanwhile, oved her and so I accepted her solo career too. It was good, but I think she does best as the front woman of No Doubt.

As you may have noticed, I am only talking about Gwen’s doings (the rest of the band members were also successful in their own field when they went solo).

Because, Gwen, I love you. Please don’t ever stop doing push ups, and writing amazing lyrics. Stay the front woman of No Doubt, because you’re much cooler this way. I don’t care how old you get, your energy on stage, with this band, will always get to me.
