Poem: You And I

A place
Let’s meet at a place
Where none of us belong
Space, which we can
Claim as our own
A patch of land where you are no longer
Just present in my memories
Rather you become my reality
Let’s meet at a place
Where the wind that blows around us
Will no longer be an echo
Of the screams unheard
Instead; it will cradle our whispers
And leave its traces
When we are;
You and I again
Let’s meet at a place
Where the raindrops will
Hush our moans
As we drown in each other
Breathless and sighing,
None of us will have
To accept any defeat
Let’s meet at a place
Where the stream beneath our feet
Will remember your melodies
And flow them back to me
When I want to lose
Myself in a song
Let’s meet at a place
Where instead of capturing
You in my words
I take in your laughter
And imprint it on me
For another lifetime
Let’s meet at a place
Where time has no meaning;
Hours pass by with every
Breath we intake
Let’s meet at a place
Where the gaps in my fingers
Are filled with yours
And your pulse feels
The rhythm of my heartbeats.
Let’s meet at a place
Where even if for a minute
You and I are
‘Us’
