Showcasing movies with themes of "Lesbian Acts" (Girlfriend) and "Gay Love" (Dostana) along with movies that had "Violent rape scenes", "Incest", "Mindless Violence" is not very sane!
This movie discusses the issue of the decriminalisation of homosexuality in India after the repeal of the 377 verdict through the eyes of three protagonists joining the 1 year celebration in Mumbai.
The treatment of the subject has been carried out in a fairly respectful fashion so far ... heartening that it isn't satire ( Apart from the odd snickering on the lines of "Thats why he runs from his wife!!" ...but heck. That does happen. Both snickering and running from the wife. )
What does that day, month and year mean to you? President Bill Clinton used that particular day to declare “Gay and Lesbian Pride Month”. Nine years later, on June 1st, …
"On May 9, a friend of a friend sent an email to me and two other women writers asking if we would help a young lesbian, a Syrian American political blogger..."

Rashmi mentioned to me that a recent episode of Outsourced was particularly troubling, so after I watched it we decided to each write about it. Read Rashmi’s take on the specific episode in her article “Outsourced, I love you no more!” I suppose I have something more along the lines of “Outsourced, I never really loved you”.
Thousands of books have been written on Mahatma Gandhi with each new one claiming to have discovered an unknown facet of his eventful life. When reviews of Pulitzer prize winner Joseph Lelyveld's "Great Soul: Mahatma Gandhi and His Struggle with India" hit the newspapers in England and US claiming that the book says Gandhi was a bisexual and had a German-Jewish bodybuilder lover in Hermann Kallenbach it created immediate sensation.

As concerned citizens, members of the queer community, and other human rights activists, are deeply disturbed by TV9 Telugu channel’s 22nd Feb 2011 broadcast that violated the basic rights and dignity of the LGBTQI community. Using private pictures, hidden-camera footage, and phone conversations, this broadcast made public the identities of some gay men without their consent. This was grossly invasive, unethical and violated the basic regulations of the National Broadcasting Association.
This video refers to sex with Transgenders (TG) as a bad habit destroying life, Youth welcoming AIDS, Unnatural and a reason for AIDS. It also refers TGs as ONE BY TWOs (a derogatory word for TGs in AP, India), ugly and repulsive and says they en-cash the unnatural desires in some people.
The day started at a hectic pace at THE HUMSAFAR TRUST. Amidst all the din of daily work we were sending out mails , drafts of "letter of protests". There were organisation letters as well as individual ones to be printed . There were flowers to be purchased and envelopes to be filled . We were all ready to counter TV9 against their reckless reporting of the social networking site Planet Romeo in Hyderabad.
For cheap sensationalism, TV9, a Telugu channel carried out a slanderous and malicious story outing young gay men from Hyderabad. Extremely personal information of these men, including physical statistics, sexual preferences and positions were revealed, blatantly violating their privacy and dignity.
Let's protest together against the TV9Telugu Homophobia episode!
At Gaysi we are deeply disappointed by TV9's homophobic story "Gay Culture Rampant in Hyd". We demand TV9 *To take down the video from TV9's Youtube channel immediately and * Release a statement promising better sensitivity to LGBT issues, in the future.

These included a few against the Delhi High Court verdict, but also for the first time, applications from civil society supporting it.
I’m still a Valentine’s cynic. And I hope my girlfriend doesn’t hate me for it. But I think it’s pointless to designate one consumerist day to your loved ones, whether they are romantic interests or your platonic nearest and dearest. Why not tell them how much they mean to you every day?
