Somewhere Deep Within

Somewhere deep within…

I see you cross your legs and sit right across me

I hear you smoke that cigarette

I see you fiddle with your hair

I hear your feet tap to the beat in your head

I smell the nape of your neck, sweet yet strong

I feel you move closer to me

I sense your quivering lips and your jittery hands

I want to come closer to you, embrace and just hold you

But it’s not me; it’s for you to release yourself of it all

For I am here, sensing and feeling every bit of you

The reluctance, the fear, the fence and the love

While you are miles and miles away, shutting yourself in that shell of yours

Break free for I can sit here distant from you and feel the life you’re living

And that is not a feeling, no feeling at all…
