Aspec is an umbrella term for people identifying on the asexual and/or aromantic spectrum. Attraction isn’t so easy to understand for the ones identifying as Aspec as unlike the very large part of the world, their romantic and sexual orientation don’t always line up.
Riya enters the cemetery, dressed in a white summer dress with a basket full of scented candles and her phone. She walks calmly through the cemetery and places them in front of a head stone that read, ‘Bellah- Forever in your heart.’ Riya falls to her knees and takes a moment.
To begin with, both demi and graysexual people under the umbrella term asexual. To put it plainly, people who identify as demisexual are people who may feel sexual attraction after a strong romantic bond is formed.
I felt my gaze shift from her eyes to the freckles on her nose and cheeks and then to her lips. Her lips. I just wanted to hold her and kiss her at that moment. As someone who identifies as an asexual this was something very new and confusing. It was so intense and overwhelming.
Asexuality is the lack of sexual attraction and aromantisim is the lack of romantic attraction. Both are a spectrum and hence also act as umbrella terms for demisexual, graysexual and demiromantic, grayromantic respectively.
