The subject grabbed spotlight after Roy uploaded photographs of her partner, Alka Kedwal and herself observing Karva Chauth on Facebook. But the couple knew little that the most moving critics of their move would come from within the community. Soon it found itself amid a debate over whether the community can be party to overtly heterosexual institutions.
