Greetings from Awadh Queer Pride 2019!
First of all, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all our supporters and well wishers who donated generously last year for the same cause. The donation that we received we successfully organised several pride related events such as performances, film screening, sensitisation programmes and of course our most beloved festival of joy, happiness and celebrations – Awadh Queer Pride. It was very covered by the media and activists across India participated in this.
With Section 377 judgment of the Supreme Court being read down it was very empowering for the entire LGBTIQA community. But still we have a long way to go in resisting and fighting stigma and discrimination faced by the community members. This year it will be our first Queer Pride post decriminalisation and it gives us a more strong reason to celebrate our independence in more grand and fabulous way. In fact this judgment is not only for LGBTIQA community but for every Indian who believes and cherishes the values enshrined in our Constitution that of equality, freedom and dignity.
This year Awadh Queer Pride plans to organise ‘Awadh Queer Pride 2019’ on 10th February 2019. Coupled with this there will be several other events such as – Queer Evening, Film Screening, Play based on queer theme, sensitisation programmes with the police, universities and colleges, and the media.

2nd Feb – Poster Making at Lohia Park (Gate no 2) from 1 till 4 pm
3rd Feb – Soch Unplugged: Dissemination of Section 377 6/9 Judgment by Yadavendra S Darvesh at Planters Cafe from 3 till 5 pm
8th & 9th Feb – Awadh Queer Literature Festival at International Baudh Shodh Sansthan from 1 till 8 pm on 8th and from 1 till 3 pm on 9th
9th Feb – Awadh Queer Pageant Show at International Baudh Shodh Sansthan from 4 till 8 pm
10th Feb – Awadh Queer Pride March (Starting Point: Dainik Jagran Chauraha; End: GPO) from 1 pm till 4 pm
10th Feb – Post Pride Party at D’Horizon Restro & Lounge from 7 pm onwards
