Late on Monday night, Indrajit Chakraborty was murdered in his apartment by an alleged date. Indrajit was well known in the Kolkata community as he used to organize parties, one even scheduled to take place over the upcoming weekend.

Indrajit lived in an apartment with three other boys, Debopam, Tanay and Gautam, in Regent Colony, South Kolkata. While there are conflicting stories about the events of that night, our source tells us that Indrajit retuned to his apartment along with two other men, one of who went by the nick name Pavel. While Pavel was known to the room-mates, it was the first time Indrajit’s room-mates had seen or met the second guy who accompanied them.

Indrajit asked his three roommates Debopam, Tanay and Gautam to move into one room, and then locked them in from the outside. After some time when the roommates did not hear any noise from the other room, they called common friends and then the police. When a common friend arrived at the apartment, he found the main door open and the cupboard ransacked. They also found Debopam, Tanay and Gautam locked in one room, and Indrajit unconscious, gagged and bound lying on his bed. They rushed him to the hospital but unfortunately the victim was declared dead on arrival.

The police claim that there are no injuries on the victim’s body other than on his lips, and they suspect that the victim was strangled. However more can only be revealed after a post mortem, they said. Pavel and the unknown man are untraceable and the police’s first move will be to locate these two men.
