From the time I started handling Gaysi Facebook page, there are two things I have stuck to. One not to be too aggressive (as I do understand how annoying it can be for a subscriber) & second, no reposting posts or images published on Facebook by other individuals and groups.
But…(yes there is always a but) at times we make an exception. For instance; this photograph taken by taken by AFP photographer Gérard Julien during the anti-gay marriage rally in the city of Marseille (France). It was re-published by Wipe Out Homophobia on their Facebook page.
My very instant reaction was; F***ing hell this is so beautiful. It took good 3 minutes or so for my eyes to drift onto the other portions of the photograph. Needless to say, the reaction on the faces of some of the protestors is simply priceless.
A little digging on the Internet I came across Huffington Post’s article on the same. Interesting facts; the “kissing” two women identify as straight. The photo has been shared over 5,000 times and received 9,000 likes on the Facebook page of HuffPost France. It was also one of the most commented topics on Reddit.
Some may wonder that the story would have been more effective had the two women (or either one) identified as Queer? But to me it’s still a classic portrayal of gender bender.
And as a friend commented on ” There is nothing more beautiful than two women kissing”. Er…hell yeah!
