Part 3 : A Beginner’s Guide To Growing Up Queer And Invisible

Part 1 & Part 2

The Beginner’s Guide to Growing Up Queer and Invisible is an animated comic series that attempts to delve into the experience of a young queer girl growing up in a predominantly heterosexual world in which any alternate sexual or romantic preference is neither found in the society nor represented in the media available to her.  The last part of series dealt with the lack of queer media available to children that prevents them from discovering and understanding their sexuality and the problematic ways in which the LGBT are represented in mainstream media.

This final video deals with the crucial stage of queer angst where the girl must come to terms with her sexuality which is a difficult process when the only future a queer person is expected to have is a tragic one and when there is no representation or support to validate her struggle. It also deals with the reality that the process of growing up queer is actually a lifelong process as there are struggles at every stage that hopefully will become lesser as the world progresses to make the queer experience more visible and accepted in society and media.
