Film Screening & Fundraiser with Director Onir

The Shakti Resource Center, Chennai joins hands with Tulir, an organization working towards the prevention and healing of child sexual abuse in organizing a joint fundraiser on Saturday, 4 December 2010 at the South India Film Chamber Theatre in Chennai.

Onirban Dhar (of My Brother Nikhil fame) has graciously agreed to screen two of his films at this event:

I am Abimanyu, which is about an adult survivor of child sexual abuse, and
I am Omar
, a sensitive film on homosexuality.

The event also includes a Panel discussion featuring director Onirban, actor Arjun Mathur, and lawyer Geetha Ramaseshan, moderated by film critic Bharadwaj Rangan. This would be a great opportunity not only to create more awareness about prevention and healing of child sexual abuse, but also to address the very bizarre, but very common, misunderstanding that conflates homosexuality and pedophilia.

Please help raise funds for The Shakti Resource Center and Tulir by purchasing tickets for this event.Tickets are priced at Rs.500/- The proceeds go to fund the good work that Shakti and Tulir have been doing.
